We are soon headed on a family vacation to Eagle River, Wisconsin. I have baked, done laundry, cleaned the house, and packed for all climates of weather...North Woods here we come!
Pictures will be posted when we return. Eric and I are excited to visit with family at the annual Simms Family Gathering. Eagle River is always a time of sharing old family memories and making new ones. This year we will have 3 generations present with the 4th on the way; the eldest of the group being my Great Uncle Glenn who will turn 90 this fall. He is the family historian and loves to tell us stories of our family's past. He and Eric have become great friends and I enjoy watching the two of them with their heads together sharing stories.
I am already looking forward to next summer when we can take our daughter/son on their first trip to Eagle River. This trip has become a tradition in my family, and one that we look forward to each July and reminisce about the whole year. Say a prayer for a safe and fun trip!

Baby's First Cubs Game
Eric and I went with my parents to a Cubs game a few nights ago to celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary. We had a great time with Connie's pizza, nachos (with jalapenos), lemon shake-ups, and kettle corn- Baby loved it all!! I was a little uncomfortable towards the end of the game from sitting too long, but it comes with the territory of being 6 months pregnant. We had lots of fun and told Mom and Dad when they make it to their 50th anniversary, we will reserve a private box...better start saving now! :)
4th of July
Even though the weather did not cooperate for the whole weekend, the Snider family gathered on Friday night at the Aurora Country Club for a picnic dinner and fireworks. We had a great time and the weather was perfect. Our nieces LOVED the fireworks and so did the baby- LOTS of movement throughout the show. I have never seen fireworks so close; they were really beautiful. Just a couple shots to share from Friday night.
Unfortunately it was a rainy Saturday, but we still had a great day at my Mom and Dad's house with my grandma, Uncle Omer and Aunt Wanda and the Layne's. We haven't seen them since Easter so they were all excited to see the growing belly. Lots of good food and family, we couldn't ask for anything more!

Summer Fun
I have to say that summer is the best part of being a teacher. Yes, I enjoy the students and my co-workers, but nothing beats sleeping in and catching some good rays (slathered in SPF of course)! Summertime also makes me think of family--whether it be spending an afternoon at Mom and Dad's pool or watching our nieces swimming at Aurora Country Club, cookouts and picnics are always more enjoyable in 80 degree weather too. It is hard to imagine that next summer will look totally different for our family. Poppa and Gram Turner will have a new grandson or granddaughter to enjoy their pool, and our nieces will have a new cousin to teach water tricks to at the country club.

I am truly enjoying being pregnant this summer and taking advantage of all the relaxation time I can get. Although, Eric and I both look forward to a new and exciting summer next year when we can take our first family vacation, and spend long summer days with our son or daughter just enjoying being Mom, Dad, and Baby.

Baby's Room Updated
We have the newest additions to the baby's room- the crib and dresser/ changing table. We had quite the adventure getting both pieces of furniture home from Babies R Us. Eric was sure that the Jeep was big enough to fit both the crib and dresser...but upon arriving at the store that wasn't the case. So after a long morning with an over-eager salesman trying to tie boxes to the top of the Jeep and Eric telling him that it wouldn't work, Eric came home with just the dresser and we both went back to get the crib. The dresser came fully assembled (thank goodness) and the crib was easier to get put together than it was getting it home. Uncle Jason even came over to help Eric carry in the dresser and see the nursery for the first time.
