23 Weeks

Summer Fun

I have to say that summer is the best part of being a teacher. Yes, I enjoy the students and my co-workers, but nothing beats sleeping in and catching some good rays (slathered in SPF of course)! Summertime also makes me think of family--whether it be spending an afternoon at Mom and Dad's pool or watching our nieces swimming at Aurora Country Club, cookouts and picnics are always more enjoyable in 80 degree weather too. It is hard to imagine that next summer will look totally different for our family. Poppa and Gram Turner will have a new grandson or granddaughter to enjoy their pool, and our nieces will have a new cousin to teach water tricks to at the country club.
I am truly enjoying being pregnant this summer and taking advantage of all the relaxation time I can get. Although, Eric and I both look forward to a new and exciting summer next year when we can take our first family vacation, and spend long summer days with our son or daughter just enjoying being Mom, Dad, and Baby.

22 Weeks

22 Weeks- almost 23. Not my favorite picture but will take more soon.
Love to all!

Baby's Room Updated

We have the newest additions to the baby's room- the crib and dresser/ changing table. We had quite the adventure getting both pieces of furniture home from Babies R Us. Eric was sure that the Jeep was big enough to fit both the crib and dresser...but upon arriving at the store that wasn't the case. So after a long morning with an over-eager salesman trying to tie boxes to the top of the Jeep and Eric telling him that it wouldn't work, Eric came home with just the dresser and we both went back to get the crib. The dresser came fully assembled (thank goodness) and the crib was easier to get put together than it was getting it home. Uncle Jason even came over to help Eric carry in the dresser and see the nursery for the first time.
It was a long day and tested my patience many times, but I was able to keep my tongue- which Eric was thankful for.

Check out the pictures of the crib and we will be adding more pictures as we add new pieces to the nursery.

Father's Day

Daddy had a great first Father's Day as a soon to be daddy. He took off early in the morning for a long overdue motorcycle ride. He has been working so hard trying to fix up the house and the nursery and his bike has been neglected. Daddy loves his long Sunday morning rides and Mommy does miss her rides on the bike as well.
Since Poppa and Gram Turner were in Seattle departing for Alaska on Father's Day, we had dinner with them and Uncle Jason on Friday night. It was a nice relaxing night with yummy steaks cooked on the grill by Poppa Turner- a real treat for Mommy! :)
After Daddy's ride on Sunday, Mommy cooked breakfast at home and we went to Poppa and Mimi Snider's house for a picnic in the afternoon. The little girls were so cute playing in the sprinkler and swimming in the kiddie pool. We all had a great time and it made Eric and I wonder even more if next summer we will have a little girl splashing in the pool or a rambunctious little boy chasing the girls through the sprinkler. Stay tuned until October!

Baby Travels

We have had a busy last couple of weeks. I went and returned from Little Rock, Arkansas safely. I am not crazy about flying and found out that the baby is also an excited flyer. Herm (as my Dad is affectionately calling the baby) moved throughout both of the flights and I was greatful for the little distractions.
It was a great trip and fun to spend time with my best friend Tami and her 17 month old son Dhane. He is a ball of energy and too cute for words. Tami's husband Ryan has been deployed in Afghanistan and I am happy to report that he is scheduled to come home on Monday afternoon. Tami and Dhane couldn't be more excited!
Little Rock is a beautiful city and we visited the Wm. Clinton Presidential Library. It seems vacations with my mother the teacher has rubbed off on me and I had to take in all the historical places in the city. The baby and I both thoroughly enjoyed the southern cooking while we were visiting- some of the best bbq that I have ever had!

Daddy was also busy while Mommy was gone. Eric painted the nursery's ceiling and walls. We had new carpet installed, and my Dad even assissted in hanging a new ceiling fan and new blinds. Eric and my parents suprised me with valences, a nightlight, and light switch panel that will match the bedding set we picked out. I am attaching pictures of it all!
We are continuing to work on the room little by little and are hoping to have the crib and dresser in the room by the end of the weekend.

20 Week Ultrasound

We had our ultrasound on Saturday morning. It was the best experience yet. We didn't find out the sex of the baby but it was amazing to see the baby moving, the heart beating, and know that all is well.
I have felt the first movements this past week, with most of the movement taking place after I eat and when I lay down in bed at night. It is the most amazing feeling!!

We have our 5 month appointment with our midwife on Tuesday. I leave for Little Rock, Arkansas on Thursday for 5 days to visit my BFF Tami. I am very excited to get away and even more excited to come home to a freshly painted Nursery and new carpet in the baby's room and our room. Eric will be busy!
Enjoy the pictures from the ultrasound. We will continue to keep you posted.
